Hi.

Welcome to my site. I cover wellness topics and write in publications and here on my own blog.

Thanks you for visiting me.

Exercise using a chair

Among my exercise friends, chairs are controversial.

We need to get off of them, some say. We need to move more to challenge our balance and encourage blood flow.

Yes! Yes! I agree.

And some people need a little help, a touchstone to help them feel grounded and oriented. A chair is useful here.

This class if for people who are recovering from an injury, have eye or ear issues, or are a little too de-conditioned to stand for 15 minutes or longer without a little help from a stable structure. While we won’t be sitting down, you have that option.

I will be teaching away from the chair, so that you can see my feet, but you can use the chair to assist you while standing.

I will remind you not to lock your knees. For the sake of an argument, try it once and see how you feel. Bad? Yep. This video encourages fluid movement and easefulness. Now try letting your knee joints go slack and you may find that a lack of structure is also uncomfortable. Find a place that is between rigidity and rag doll looseness. Give your joints support and space! Work from there.
