I was in my Fort Wayne, Ind., hometown recently. I always stop by Stoner’s Fun Shop, owned by the nonagenarian, Dick Stoner. On a Saturday, he sits in the magic section of his store, which has been “selling funny goofy crap since 1949.” Here, he demonstrates the Svengali deck. If you ask him to demonstrate, he obliges. He has an aw-shucks performance style.
I love that the shop, which also sells costumes, is near city government buildings and the Republican headquarters.
