I object to "No Kings"

Thank you to those of you who went to the No Kings Day Protests last weekend. The First Amendment of the Constitution declares the “right of the people peaceably to assemble.” But this right must be practiced.

I spent last Saturday debating whether or not I wanted to brave the crowds, the rain, and the A train that was down from Dyckman Street to 168. Ultimately, I stayed home. I will find my resistance super power, but it isn’t the protest. So again, I thank you who protested.

However, can we reconsider the motto of No Kings? Really? What about Larry King, Gayle King, Stephen King, Don King, and Martin Luther King?

What about Burger King, Pizza King, Donut King, and Mr. King (my high school band director)?

King Kong was strong.

Old King Cole merry.

King Tut dead.

What about prom kings, the Gypsy Kings, and Three Kings?

The King of Pop.

The king

Ladies and gents, when we ask Elvis to leave the building, the world will come to an end.
